| Rowan
tree on Blackdown Common. Branches removed, re-used to plug holes, created
in a series of spiralled holes from base of tree to a height of two metres.
The tree will heal the plugged holes and create a weald in each one. As
the tree grows so the bark will attain a curious spiralling bark. The tree
was due to be felled as part of the felling programme on the Blackdown
Hills. Michael Fairfax 2008 |
